Holy Week Happenings: Focusing on Jesus’ Last Days on Earth Thursday: Mark 14:12-72 1. Read Mark 14:12-26. a. Read Exodus 12:6-11. Describe what the disciples were probably doing in order prepare? b. Read Exodus 12:12-13, 19-28. Knowing what Passover was, how do Jesus’ words in Mark 14:22-24 fall in line with Passover? How did Jesus change it? 2. Read Mark 14: 32-51. a. For what is Jesus praying? Is he changing his mind? b. What is Jesus’ response to the manner in which they come to arrest him? Does he go willingly? Why? 3. Read Mark 14:52-65. a. What is noteworthy about verses 55-59? What do these verses say about the creation of the mob mentality by the time Jesus is before Pilate? b. What action(s) of Jesus push the people to condemn him? Do you think this somehow “set them free” of feeling personal responsibility? 4. Read Mark 14:27-31, 66-72 a. What is the atmosphere in which all of this occurs? b. Why did Peter break down?
