John 3:16 is perhaps the most familiar verse in Scripture and I wonder if that is the problem. Perhaps it is so familiar that we have lost sight of what a true sacrifice Christ’s coming was; when this verse is compared with John 15:12, however, the importance of this expression of love cannot go unnoticed. Again, the command is so simple and we insist on making it complicated. As we await Christ’s return, we must love as he loves us. Do you want to know the best part? We have a guidebook on this kind of love and it’s called the Bible! So take a few moments and write down ways that God loves you and how it can be translated into how you love others. Write it and commit to it so that you can say, not with fear and hesitation, but with joy and celebration: Come, Lord Jesus!

How God Loves You How You can Love Others
